1. Who we are
Hortiku is a gardening guidance service operated by the Hortiku product team. Hortiku is responsible for the personal data described in this notice. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to hortiku.ai@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: name, email address, account preferences, and authentication records.
- Garden information: plot type, dimensions, sunlight, goals, experience level, time commitment, selected plants, tasks, and care progress.
- Space photos: photographs of your growing area when you choose to add one during setup.
- Location and weather: approximate location, or precise location with your device permission, to provide locally relevant weather and care guidance.
- Subscription information: plan, entitlement, renewal, and transaction status supplied by Apple App Store or Google Play. Hortiku does not receive your full payment-card number.
- Service and support data: device information, security events, diagnostics, correspondence, and support requests.
On this website, we store one necessary preference record in local storage. When you give us consent, we also collect website usage and performance data using Google Analytics. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. See the Cookie Policy.
3. How we use information
We use personal data to provide and personalise garden setup recommendations, maintain your plot and task records, present weather context, manage subscriptions, respond to support, secure the service, diagnose technical faults, analyze site performance, and comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal bases
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process data to perform our contract with you, pursue legitimate interests such as service security and improvement, comply with law, or act on your consent. You can withdraw consent for optional permissions, including location access, through your device settings.
5. Recommendations and photos
Hortiku provides plant recommendations based on the setup details you submit. Recommendations can be incomplete or wrong and do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. Do not upload space photos containing people, documents, addresses, or unrelated personal information. Hortiku removes unnecessary image metadata where technically feasible.
6. Sharing
We share data only with service providers needed to operate Hortiku, such as hosting, secure authentication, AI inference, weather, customer support, analytics providers (Google Analytics), security, and app-store billing providers. Providers may process data only under our instructions and applicable contractual safeguards. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users and the service, or as part of a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal data or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
7. International transfers
Some providers may process information outside your country. Where required, Hortiku uses recognised safeguards for international transfers and assesses the protections available in the destination country.
8. Retention
- Account and garden records are retained while your account is active and deleted or anonymised within 90 days after account deletion, unless law requires longer retention.
- Optional space photos are retained for up to 12 months unless you delete them sooner.
- Support records are retained for up to 24 months after resolution.
- Security logs are retained for up to 12 months.
- Subscription and transaction records are retained as required for accounting, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
- This website retains its necessary consent preference for up to 180 days, and Google Analytics cookies are retained for up to 2 years.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, withdraw consent, or receive a portable copy of your personal data. You can manage device permissions in your operating-system settings and request account deletion from the app or by emailing hortiku.ai@gmail.com. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
10. Security
Hortiku uses administrative, technical, and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal data. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Please use a unique password and contact hortiku.ai@gmail.com if you believe your account or data is at risk.
11. Children
Hortiku is intended for users aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal data should contact us so we can investigate and delete it.
